Red light laser lipolysis, also known as low-level laser therapy ( LLLT) or cold laser therapy, is a non-surgical procedure that uses low-level lasers to target and shrink fat cells in the body, smooth cellulite and tighten skin.
The procedure uses a low-irradiance laser that emits wavelengths of red, blue, and infrared light approximately 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) into your skin. It targets the layer of fat that sits just below the surface of your skin.
The red light laser energy is absorbed by the fat cells, causing them to release stored fatty acids and triglycerides. These substances are then metabolized by the body and excreted as waste. The result is a reduction in the size and number of fat cells in the treated area, leading to a reduction in body fat and improved body contouring.
Red light laser lipolysis is typically used to target small areas of stubborn fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. The procedure is non-invasive, painless, and requires no downtime. Most people require a series of treatments, typically 6-12 sessions spaced 1-2 weeks apart, to achieve the desired results.
It's important to note that red light laser lipolysis is not a weight loss solution but rather a method for targeting localized areas of stubborn fat that may be resistant to diet and exercise. The procedure is typically used for body contouring and inch loss rather than significant fat reduction.
